Hi there, I'm a qualified and accredited life and business coach living in Worthing, by the sea.
I'm a coach for creative people. Or, as my book explains, for 'Founders, Freelancers & Rebels'. I began working for myself back in 2009 and now I support writers, artists, actors, presenters, PR experts, web-designers, copywriters, authors and more with 1-2-1 and group coaching. I love it.
If you’re looking for life-coaching, business-coaching, accountability and support as a creative person, you’re in the right place. I run retreats for creative people, group programmes for new writers and 1-2-1 coaching for creative freelancers and founders. I worked in PR and marketing with well-known entrepreneurs and brands for almost 20 years before re-training, so I have external knowledge of the PR industry too.
Authenticity
I'm a firm believer in true authenticity... and by that I mean there's no 'fake it til you make it' happening here. We're not faking it. We'll work thoughtfully together so you feel as good on the inside as you look on the outside. I truly believe there's no point in looking shiny in your photos if you're feeling yucky inside. I'm here to work with your mindset as well as helping you with career goals. Ask me about improving your confidence as a freelancer, setting boundaries, growing your business as founder and how to get your creative mojo back. Want to write a book? I have a year-long coaching programme for you, it’s called (aptly): Write The Book.
My coaching techniques
I have a huge range of coaching techniques and tools to offer you, it's not a 'one-size-fits-all' approach, it's centred on you and what you respond best to. I’m EMCC accredited and I also bring expertise as a qualified PR and published author too. I meet most clients via Zoom, but I also run in-person creative retreats and workshops in Brighton, Worthing and Hay-on-Wye. My coachees work hard and also we tend to have a lot of fun. I can facilitate team away-days and run team sessions on creativity, confidence and more. I can be the go-to coach for your PR agency, especially if you’re growing or want to grow.

My experience
My own creative experience includes two decades in PR and marketing and I've also had my own book published. I'm a regular guest on podcasts and I love facilitating events too (such as book launches, panels, womens' circles and more). I’m qualified and accredited and a member of EMCC and Proud Wellness.
My interests
Outside of my work as a coach for creative people, I love to draw, see live music, dance, walk, practice yoga and meditation and make really good food. I'm a fan of markets and charity shops, and slightly obsessed with ice-cream.
I’m part of the LGBTQ+ community and love meeting other queer folks. I co-founded and co-ran the first Pride in Hay-on-Wye when I was living there.
If you think I sound like your sort of person, why not book a free 15-min Discovery Call. Pop over to my booking page. The Discovery Call is completely free, and a chance to get to know one another.
Looking forward to hearing you.
Helen
For me diversity isn't just a nice word to stick on a website. All your feelings are truly welcome here.
In my coaching I hold space for conversations about whatever you choose to bring. As we focus on moving you forward that often involves talking about personal topics, in our confidential conversations, covering themes which you may not discuss elsewhere. I aim to be LGBTQ+ affirming and neurodiversity-friendly, anti-racist and inclusive for disabled people. I’m always open to hearing about how I can do better and client feedback is welcome. I’m a supporter of trans rights and a member of Proud Wellness.
I am not a therapist and I do not give advice on these themes, but I am here to listen and hold space in a non-judgemental way.
I am proud to support and celebrate your diversity on our coaching journey together. I will not tolerate any hate speech in my spaces and if there’s anything I can do to help make my coaching spaces feel safer for you, please let me know.
Themes I have worked with recently include:
sexuality; gender
feminism
race
neurodiversity (such as autism)
disability
parenting or being child-free
money
ageing
loss
addiction
divorce
mental health

We support causes we believe in including The Ministry of Stories.
I say ‘we’ because Coaching By Helen is not just me (Helen), we are a small team, and storytelling sits at the heart of what we do.
Being able to tell our stories empowers us to show up more brightly in the world and that's what I'm here for. As a coach for creative people I love to connect with organisations and individuals who live and breathe creativity and inspire people. Community is one of my values and this London-based charity is close to my heart.
I run a year-long accountability and coaching programme called Write The Book for new authors and writers who are keen to write their first book and get it published. This charity aligns so well with this aspect of my coaching work and I’m proud to support them.
