A writing retreat at a castle, in Hay-on-Wye, the famous town of books

Everyone has a book in them, as the well-known saying goes.

We’re all creative individuals and I do believe that it’s true, everyone has a story to tell. What we might struggle with is finding the time, space and inspiration. If this sounds like you, and you have a great idea you’d like to work on, the Castle Writing Retreat in Hay-on-Wye is ideal for you.

Spend two days in beautiful Hay-on-Wye, writing, dreaming and planning your book or story. We’ll be there on 25th & 26th November this year (2025) and you’re so welcome to join us. If money is a barrier then do speak to us about bursaries for low income individuals as there may be one or two available.

This retreat is open to anyone (adults over 18) and with a wheelchair accessible venue, LGBTQ+ friendly neurodivergent inclusive approach, we aim to be as inclusive and diverse as we can. We’d truly love to see you there, and it doesn’t matter if you’ve never written much before or if you’re already a published author, you’re so welcome.

Our gentle programme includes plenty of time to write and/or browse the famous bookshops, as well as the chance to meet writers, booksellers and more. There’ll be some slow yoga on day two if you feel the need to stretch out after all that writing and dreaming. And we’ll finish the two days with delicious hot chocolate and a chat with an editor who works closely with Hay Festival. It’s a truly magical time of year to visit Hay and it’s the same week as the Christmas lights will be switched on.

be in touch to reserve your place for just £50 deposit and choose your payment plan and accommodation to suit your budget.

We can help you plan your accommodation and travel too and ask the castle to cater to your dietary requirements of course.

Come and join us…
